Teaching Philosophy-11197

I am a lifelong learner and believer that all children can succeed, down whatever path fits their needs. My passion for history began in high school Global History, when we learned about the French Revolution. I continued to take a particular interest in the “non traditional” textbook topics. In the classroom, I work on engaging students in my content through an inquiry-based learning style that aligns with the NYS Social Studies Framework and CCLS. I believe that students learn best when they are given an authentic task. Some innovative projects I have done in the past include: The Trial of King Louis XVI for Treason, Imperialism Press Conference (Global), High School Food Court, Coke and Pepsi Challenge (Economics), and the Structure of Government Metaphor (Government). Along with the NYS Regents level classes, I teach many electives that include: Pop Culture, History thru Music & Film, and Psychology.
