Principal's Message

More than twenty years ago, I came to Great Neck's Village School as a student teacher with big ideas and a passion for reaching children in a way that maximized potential.  Decades later, I am fortunate enough to be a veteran principal of what stands as the often imitated, but never quite duplicated, premier alternative high school nation-wide. 

Nearly every district on Long Island and beyond has come to Village School to learn how it's "done," before going ahead with its own program.  However, none of them can match our experienced, full-time staff's commitment and know-how, or our four-year college acceptances year after year.  This is because there is only one Village School-- born out of the Great Neck School District-- a lighthouse district that supports and demands so much from all of its institutions. 

While Village School is an alternative school, it is not an alternative to school. Academic rigor remains at the forefront of what we hold dear, while never losing sight of the whole student. Our creative, and in-depth curriculum complies with New York State regulations, but remains alternative enough to keep students engaged and, at the same time, ready for what comes after high school. 

However you choose a school for your child-- academics, test scores, college acceptances, teacher/student relationships, or simply the smiles on students' faces-- Village School stands alone as the premiere alternative experience.  So come visit us and see the difference for yourself.  Let us work with you as a team dedicated toward ensuring a bright and happy future for your child.
