Our Story

Founded over 40 years ago, Village School is part of a rich history of alternative education born out of a counterculture movement that made its way into classrooms across the nation. While the majority of alternative schools established during that era have long since closed, Village not only survived, but has become the nation's trendsetter in alternative education.

Many surrounding Long Island districts send administrators and teachers to visit Village before giving shape to their own programs. But although imitation is often the sincerest form of flattery, there is only one Village School.
